Abstract
This text is a critical review of the history of Ecuadorian cinema, analyzing its main artistic milestones and its evolution over time, while at the same time examining the political implications that have influenced its development. Through an in-depth reflection, it identifies the dynamics that have characterized the relationship between the State, cultural institutions and filmmakers, highlighting both the progress achieved and the structural limitations that have hindered the consolidation of a sustainable film industry. Finally, possible strategies and frameworks for action aimed at strengthening Ecuadorian cinema are proposed, promoting decentralized public policies, legal incentives and a greater commitment of the various actors in the sector, with the objective of fostering a diverse and inclusive film production.
