Stop Motion animation in the 21st century

Abstract

From explaining how stop-motion works to produce animated films, the author claims the ability of this technique to generate fantasy worlds in which the hand of the human creator is evident. The textures, the light, the physical environment, but above all the lack of perfection in their movements, betray the technical resource of stop-motion, but, in doing so, they fill the audiovisual creation with expressiveness.

Juan Jacob Valladares Lanzer, Independent author

Director and producer at Tinamú Films since 2012, focused on children's production. Because he belongs to a Jewish-Ecuadorian-German family, he has developed his capacity and sensitivity to appreciate cultural differences and try to understand them in their essence. He lived in the Ecuadorian Amazon which has constituted his great love for nature and the Siona-Secoya culture. He is currently working on the post-production of his documentary feature film "Airo Pai: Mi Amigo Nelson".
