Abstract

The cinema of catastrophes depicts the tireless struggle between life and death. Besides, it brings relief and expiation from the view of others suffering. This kind of cinema has an importance rooted in the deep collective need. Is because of this human need, that an antiheroic character becomes part of this subgender. The simple human being will be to one who brings the light that will show the way out of darkness.

Francisco Javier Oña Fonseca, Universidad Central del Ecuador

Filmmaker and university teacher. He has participated in several national and international audiovisual productions from various fields such as drama, production, acting and directing. He is a professor of dramaturgy and creative writing at the Faculty of Arts of the Central University of Ecuador. His commitment focuses on the constant search to cross the limits between artistic languages ​​and the creative power inherent in that combination.
